Alex Titriku was my manager for two years at TI, but in my last year I worked under Mark Weaver. This was as I made the jump from Design Verification to Digital design. I think if I had not thought about trying analog design at the end of my time at TI I would have stayed, when filling out my internship feedback I mentioned my interest in analog. Then I missed an email for a digital design return offer, by the time I became concerned about not hearing back TI HR informed me the closest they had was analog design, and they sent me an offer.
At the time I chose not to return, I was pursuing a degree in Computer Architecture which was far from digital design, not to mention a golf from analog design. I figured it would be better to work on research than analog for my career.
Microarchitecture is Yale Patt's signature class and widely considered the hardest course offered by the department. But is it the best place to learn CPU design, when the assignment makes you balance design complexity and tooling development against a... Read More
